Chapter 5 - Adding Google AdSense Ads to your TypePad Blog

Google AdSense

Many blog publishers find that running ads on their blogs can be a way to generate a little bit of income. I will tell you that unless your blog is generating significant traffic, don’t count on this as a way to make money. In some cases ads make sense in other they do not. This example will show you how to place the AdSense code. You must already be an approved Google AdSense publisher to participate. – You can find info on the program here - https://www.google.com/adsense/ 

If you have an account with Google, sign on and choose Ad Settings. The 160 x 600 ad layout is the one that fits best in the sidebar. Make your choices for ad layout and copy the code that Google produces for you. (A couple of hints on design – take off the border and choose colors that blend in with your blog. The more you can design the ads to look like the text of the blog the better.)

TypePad has recently added their own Advertising revenue opportunity. They have partnered with Kanoodle to offer text advertising on TypePad blogs. The service is part of your TypePad membership but you must sign-up for an account with Kanoodle – Details here

Here is an example of the code from Google:

Now simply repeat the steps from above and copy the Google ad code into the notes section of a newly created TypeList. Call this TypeList something like Links of Interest.

Make sure that you go back to the content tab and add your new TypeList. Also, visit the Order Tab to place the Google Ad where you want them to show up on your sidebar.
